Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)

GI Direct achieved certification in May 2008. Certification means we can identify what paper has been used, with assurances the fibre used originates from legal and sustainable sources.

What is PEFC?

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) is a system that tries to ensure the sustainability of wood products. Founded in 1999, PEFC is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification.

It acts as an umbrella organisation for the assessment of, and mutual recognition of, national forest certification schemes developed in a multi-stakeholder process. Today, it is the world's largest certification scheme with 25 national schemes and over 1,000,000 km² of forest certified.

Why did we adopt this standard?

Consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about the environmental origin of the goods they buy. PEFC allows GI Direct to use paper reels which have been purchased from a sustainable source.

What it does it mean to you?

If you request PEFC paper we will able to use our chain of custody certification to apply the PEFC mark on to your products. This will demonstrate to your clients that your mailing is made from a sustainable forest.
