ISO 14001

What is ISO 14001?
Environmental management standard developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
This is an international standard for private and public sector organisations to promote continuous improvement in environmental performance and help organisations minimise how their operations negatively affect the environment.
ISO 14001 is the international specification for an environmental management system (EMS). It specifies requirements for establishing an environmental policy, meeting environmental legislation requirements, determining environmental aspects and impacts of products/activities/services, planning environmental objectives and measurable targets, implementation and operation of programs to meet objectives and targets, checking and corrective action, and management review.
Why did we adopt this standard?
GI Direct wanted to establish a method for monitoring our impact on our environment. ISO 14001 provides several benefits to businesses, including improvements in Environmental Performance, waste reduction and increased efficiency.
